SUGAR GROVE, Ill. – The steady climb up the mountain continued for RangeGoats Golf Club on Saturday.

After not recording a score over par, the team is a combined 17 under through two days and in fifth place on the team leaderboard at LIV Golf Chicago, just five shots off the lead.

Thomas Pieters and Talor Gooch spearheaded the successful second round with matching scores of 4-under 67. The two posted their team’s top scores on Friday as well and will look to close just as strong Sunday.

Pieters was particularly hot, making three consecutive birdies late on the front nine while sprinkling in two more birdies and just one bogey. Gooch, a three-time winner this season, couldn’t take full advantage of the par 5s but executed the par 4s with his usual winning precision.

Harold Varner III added the final counting score, an even-par 71. The winner of LIV Golf DC took advantage of his length, recording birdies on two par 5s. Captain Bubba Watson matched Varner’s 71 and continued his steady play, recording one birdie and one bogey.

RangeGoats GC entered the week fifth in the team season-long standings and is still alive for one of the top four seeds that will receive first-round byes.
