Wolff RangeGoats recap STORY image

The good news for RangeGoats Golf Club is that new 2024 member Matthew Wolff continues to settle in and shine. The only catch? His teammates now must try to keep pace.

The team finished in 12th place at LIV Golf Houston under grueling, hot conditions at the Golf Club of Houston and now stand ninth in the season-long team standings. The finish followed a familiar trend for RangeGoats GC, who have been feast or famine for much of the season. It now has three top-6 finishes but also four results of 10th or worse.

Wolff led the way in Houston with a team-best solo-14th finish. He opened by going a combined 8 under during the first two rounds, including a stellar 5-under 67 on Saturday, but couldn’t quite follow it up and shot 1-over 73 on Sunday. Still, it was his best finish in his last three events following a solo third at LIV Golf Miami in early April.

Thomas Pieters did his best to match Wolff and was the only other member to finish under par for the week. Pieters was a combined 6 under through the first two rounds before a 2-over 74 on Sunday led to a T24 result. Pieters is now 27th in the season-long standings and was coming off a solid T5 in Singapore.

Captain Bubba Watson and Peter Uihlein couldn’t get much going in Houston. Watson was 6 over for the week while Uihlein did show flashes, particularly on Sunday with a 4-under 68, but it was too little too late to stage a late run up the leaderboard.

The team will look to put Houston in the past and focus on LIV Golf Nashville in two weeks as the early portion of the second half of the season continues.
