RangeGoats recap HK

Going into the week, it was known Hong Kong Golf Club didn’t feature a course that exactly fit members of RangeGoats Golf Club. It’s a tight, short course, and the team is full of big hitters who can overpower layouts.

In the end, it’s safe to say the RangeGoats did better than expected.

Captain Bubba Watson led the way for most of the week at LIV Golf Hong Kong and was the only team member to not shoot over par in any of the three rounds. The two-time Masters champion was a combined 5 under in the first two rounds, but perhaps his best showing came Sunday when he shot even par in wet and windy conditions when scoring went up. Watson finished T-29 on the week and is T-35 in the season-long team standings.

After a slow start on Friday, Peter Uihlein turned it on during the weekend. On Saturday, Uihlein shot 5-under 65 for one of the best rounds of the day, and he followed it up with a stellar 3-under 67 as conditions worsened. Uihlein is showing flashes early in 2024, highlighted by a T-2 finish in Las Vegas in early February.

Matthew Wolff opened the week in fine form with a 3-under 67 before taking a step back on Saturday. But he posted a 1-under 69 on Sunday in challenging weather to finish under par for the week. Teammate Thomas Pieters couldn’t quite get much going but finished even par for the week.

The team will have a break before teeing it up again at LIV Golf Miami from April 5-7 at Trump National Doral.
